The story of Artorias

As anyone who has played Dark Souls knows, there are more stories involved than just the story of the Chosen Undead.  When I first heard of the name, Artorias the Abysswalker, I wanted to find out more. I watched a video on YouTube by TerraMantis that told the story of Sir Artorias the Abysswalker.

The story started out with Four Knights of Gwyn, Hawkeye Gough, Dragonslayer Ornstein, Lords Blade Ciaran, and Sir Artorias the Abysswalker. Artorias originally helped Lord Gwyn defeat the Dragons and the only way they could beat them is if they knew the dragons weaknesses. Thankfully Seath the Scaleless gave Lord Gwyn their weakness (Lightning). Then a Primordial Serpent, Darkwraith Kaathe rose the Abyss and awoke the primeval man, Manus, Father of the Abyss. Artorias fought his way to the abyss bravely and destroyed anyone who got in the way of his quest to vanquish the spread of the abyss. As Artorias traveled further into the Chasm of the Abyss, him and his faithful companion Sif the Great Grey Wolf encountered strange phantoms that seemed to feed off the humanity of humans. Artorias used his greatsword to obliterate all his foes and he ventured even further into the abyss.

He eventually past through Manus' final resting place and he encountered Manus himself. Artorias and Sif fought as best as they could and with Artorias' left arm broken, he used his magic shield and used it to create a magical barrier to protect Sif from Manus' dark magic. Artorias tried to finish the job but he was unsuccessful. He was then corrupted by Manus and was allowed to live. Artorias struggled to make it to the surface and was eventually corrupted and drawn into darkness by Manus. Severely injured, Artorias locked himself in the Oolacile Arena and was confronted by the Chosen Undead. Artorias could hear himself warning the Chosen Undead but the words were never able to leave his mouth. Artorias, with his left arm broken engaged the Chosen Undead in an all out fight to the death. Because of the corruption by the abyss, Artorias was not able to stop it from spreading.

In the end, the Chosen Undead had killed Artorias and had saved him from his constant suffering under the darkness. Later after Artorias' death, the Chosen Undead ventured into the Chasm of the Abyss and vanquished Manus, Father of the Abyss. When Manus was killed by the Chosen Undead, the citizens of Oolacile were freed from the corrosive power of the abyss. The citizens of Oolacile gave the credit to Artorias which earned him the title of Abysswalker.

  4. Its a very fun game to play. Its a very hard game. On the first boss, its really easy to kill it until you go further into the game and then all of a sudden every time you make mistakes you are most likely going to die.
